Tropical Storm Mekkhala Updates as of Jan 14 2015

January 14, 2015 — Northeast Monsoon affecting Luzon. Meanwhile at 4:00 PM today, the Tropical Storm with international name “MEKKHALA” was estimated based on all available data at 1,365 km East of Visayas (10.6ºN, 138.2ºE), with maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph. It is forecast to move west northwest at 19 kph.

CARAGA and Eastern Visayas will experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rains while the rest of Visayas and Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains. Thunderstorms are likely to occur over this areas. Cagayan Valley will have cloudy skies with light rains. Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will be partly cloudy to at times cloudy with isolated light rains.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over Luzon and Visayas and from the northeast to north over Mindanao with moderate to rough seas.
