Magnitude 5.5 Aftershock Shakes Surigao Early Sunday - Phivolcs

June 1, 2014 — A magnitude-5.5 aftershock shook the Surigao area at 3:05 a.m. Sunday, more than 24 hours after a magnitude-5.6 quake hit the area Friday night.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the aftershock’s epicenter was 118 km northeast of Cortes, Surigao del Sur.

No damage was expected from the aftershock.

Around five other aftershocks had hit the area earlier, with magnitudes ranging from 3.1 to 4.8. - GMA News
