Myanmar arrests Thai migrant boat owner – state media

YANGON, Myanmar (May 30, 2015) — A Thai national who allegedly owned a boat that was recently discovered by the Myanmar navy crammed with more than 200 migrants has been arrested, state media said Saturday, May 30.

More than 3,300 migrants rescued in Med, 17 dead

ROME, Italy (May 30, 2015) — The Italian coastguard said it had coordinated the rescue of more than 3,300 migrants sailing across the Mediterranean Sea on Friday, May 29, but also found 17 corpses on several of the rickety boats.

Italian navy finds 11 dead migrants, rescues hundreds

ROME, Italy (May 29, 2015) — The Italian navy found 11 dead migrants on boats headed across the Mediterranean to Europe on Friday, May 29, and saved some 570 others as numerous rescue operations were underway.
