CEBU CITY, Philippines (July 3, 206) — Heavy rains hit Metro Cebu noontime Saturday, July 2, and by 1 pm, several areas reported flooding.

An alert by state weather bureau PAGASA said that “light to moderate rain” would affect Lapu-Lapu City, Cordova, Mandaue City, Consolacion, Liloan, and portions of Cebu City.

As of 1 pm, flooding was reported in barangay Apas in Cebu City, AS Fortuna Road in Banilad, Mandaue City, and on J Lopez Jaena in Tipolo, Mandaue City.

PAGASA’s Visayas bureau chief Oscar Tabada said the downpour was brought about by an intertropical convergence zone (ITZC), producing low atmospheric pressure.
